The binding, which was one of Yeats’ favourites, was designed by English artist and writer, Althea Gyles.
The volume contains 43-pages of Notes at rear, a selection of elaborate essays in the manner of The Celtic Twilight. Yeats wrote “They deal with Irish fairy lore and mythology, and are in most cases made out of quite new material. I have written very long notes about very short poems. I hope others will forgive me the poems for the sake of the valuable information in the notes.”
