Martyn was a cousin and friend to George Moore and wrote an insightful account of Martyn in his monumental Hail and Farewell. Along with W.B. Yeats and Lady Gregory, Martyn founded the Irish Literary Theatre, for whom he wrote his best and most popular plays ‘The Heather Field’ and ‘A Tale of a Town.’
