Loosely inserted is the ‘Poetry Book Society Bulletin’ for Summer 1969 with Heaney’s introductory remarks on his latest collection of poems.

Heaney’s second collection, preceded by his widely acclaimed ‘Death of a Naturalist’ published in 1966.

The poems graphically depict the author’s rural upbringing, from the local forge to the banks of Lough Neagh, concluding in the preserving waters of the bogland and a look ahead to his next book, Wintering Out (1972).
