Retaining most of the original first issue dust jacket, lacking 3/4 of spine, front cover & flap present. Back cover – with Graham Green’s description- chipped along margins, with some closed tears affecting 2 words of Green’s blurb. Housed in solander box. Apart from the jacket, which is rarely present, this an exceptional copy of the first issue of O’Brien’s masterpiece. ‘At Swim’ has been described as one of the most amusing, wildly funny works of genius in contemporary Irish literature. Described by Graham Greene as in the ‘line of Tristram Shandy and Ulysses.’
