A pirate edition, it is a line-by-line reprint of the original 1894 edition, published by Leonard Smithers & Co. Wilde’s satire was first performed at London’s Haymarket Theatre in 1893. The run of the play was cut short as a result of Wilde’s arrest and prosecution. [Mason 627].
