Estimate for Public Services, for the Year Ending March 31st, 1924. Dublin: Published by the Stationary Office. Original cloth boards, title lettered along spine. Boards lightly scuffed, contents in very good condition.
A breakdown of expenditure for public services in the fledging Free State government under the W. T. Cosgraves’ administration.
Sinn Fein published a handbill criticizing the cost of the report which they claimed was priced at 10/- to keep it out of the hands of the people. ”This is not to be wondered at considering the revelations it makes. It shows that the huge sum of £37,865 is provided for one year for Tim Healy, the representative of the English King in Ireland. Mr. Cosgrave and his comrades might explain what return the people of Ireland receive for this wasteful and unnecessary expenditure of their money”
