Contains 31 hand coloured maps, some folding. Contemporary half calf, marbled boards, russet title label stamped in gilt with floral motif stamped in gilt to compartments. Light shelf wear to covers, otherwise a fine copy. Neat ownership name to title page and verso in vintage ink, armorial bookplate on front pastedown.

This atlas was probably intended to accompany Bates’s edition of John Walker’s ‘Elements of Geography’, Dublin, 1797.

Contents page notes plates 2-6, are ‘inserted in Geography.’ John Walker described as ‘Teacher of the Classics and Mathematics, Ussher Island, Dublin. His ‘Elements of Geography’, being principally the substance of a course of lectures addressed to his pupils.’
