Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the second book in J.K. Rowling’s series, was published in the UK on 2 July 1998 by Bloomsbury, just a year after the first book’s success. The initial print run was larger than Philosopher’s Stone’s, reflecting growing demand. It was well-received, cementing the series’ popularity. The US edition, published by Scholastic under the same title, followed in June 1999. By late 1998, translations into several languages had begun. The book’s success helped solidify the Harry Potter phenomenon ahead of the later global boom.
