This is not a Book Club edition as it has the binding in red, the top of the text block is stained black and there is no stamp to the rear board therefore meeting true US first edition criteria.

Signed by Gunter Grass on title page. in German to the half title page it has also been dated Berlin 12.2.93.

Grass won the Noble Prize for Literature in 1999.
