The Tale of Peter Rabbit was the first book in a series of tales written by Beatrix Potter. After several publishers’ rejections she arranged to have 250 copies privately printed in 1901. The first trade issue was published by Frederick Warne & Co. in 1902, and its success ensured multiple reprints were issued in the years immediately following.
