Pp (1) xxxvi, 476; (2) 337, [index]. Neat library stamp to title-page. A very good set, attractively rebound in quarter calf, marble boards, original title labels retained. Henry Hyde, 2nd earl of Clarendon, was made lord lieutenant of Ireland by James II in September 1665, where he became an unwilling instrument of the King’s desire to replace Protestants in high positions by Roman Catholics.
