A distinguished Irish statesman and jurist, Lord Plunket was a leading advocate for Catholic emancipation and parliamentary reform. Called to the Irish Bar in 1787, he became a prominent Whig politician, serving as Solicitor-General (1803) and Attorney-General (1805) for Ireland. As Lord Chancellor of Ireland (1830–41), he played a key role in legal reforms.

An Anglo-Irish thinker, writer, and orator, Edmund Burke was a pivotal figure in 18th-century politics. His critiques of the French Revolution (Reflections on the Revolution in France, 1790) established him as a founder of modern conservatism. Though advocating for Irish rights and Catholic relief, his influence extended globally, shaping political thought for generations.
