The Royal Munster Fusiliers was an Irish infantry regiment of the British Army, raised in 1881 and disbanded in 1922 following the establishment of the Irish Free State.
Their actions at Etreux, Festubert, and Rue du Bois are remembered as examples of extraordinary courage and sacrifice during World War I. After the war, the regiment was disbanded as part of the reorganisation of the British Army following Irish independence.
