Dorothy MacArdle’s novel Fantastic Summer is a lesser-known work by the Irish author, who is more widely recognised for her historical and political writings, particularly her contributions to Irish history and her association with the Irish independence movement.

MacArdle was also a playwright and produced just a handful of novels.
