Talbot Hayden was an American journalist who met Collins shortly after the singing of the Treaty with England (1922). 

The book contains an invaluable insight into Collins’ thinking and actions during this epic period of Irish history. Dealing at length with Easter Week, the Black & Tans, the murder of Francis Sheehy Skeffington, the Treaty negotiations and his vision for the resurgent nation.
