Illustrated with thirty-five plates and five folded coloured maps of the city. Frontispiece by Harry Clarke entitled ‘The late hour of the night’ depicting a ghoul presiding over the destruction of Dublin.

The work outlines a visionary approach to urban planning for Dublin, focusing on improving the city’s infrastructure, aesthetics, and overall functionality.

A second volume ‘The Dublin Civic Survey Report’ Prepared by Horace T. O’Rourke and the Dublin Civic Survey Committee, was published in 1925. It includes a foreword by Abercrombie in which he expresses the hope that his plan and O’Rourke sequel volume would serve as the basis for a final plan that would foreshadow the growth of the city for the remaining three-quarters of the twentieth century.
