The American lawyer John Quinn, who first met W.B. Yeats on a visit to Ireland in 1902 and became a supportive patron of the poet, contributed significantly to the creation of Yeats and the marketing of his work in the US.
John Butler Yeats (father of the poet) visited New York City in December 1907, remaining there, with Quinn’s assistance, until his death in 1922.
