The Constitution of the Irish Free State was first enacted by the Constituent Assembly as a part of the Constitution of the Irish Free State (Saorstát Éireann) Act, 1922. The terms of this constitution provided that it could only come into force once it had been passed by both the British Parliament and the Irish Constituent Assembly.
