This is the first published edition of the  Hitch Hikers Guide, preceding the Arthur Barker hardback by a few months.

‘So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish.’ First published in London on 12 October 1979, the novel is an adaptation of the first four parts of Adams’s radio series of the same name. The popularity of the radio series gave rise to a six-episode television series which first aired on the BBC in January 1981.
